TWG Answers Frequently Asked Window Treatment Questions

How do I choose the right window treatment?

Once you have decided to opt-in for a window treatment, our professional designers will assist in helping you select the best window treatments. You will want to think of a few things before coming in to help us help you decide on the best option, like:

  • Why do you want it covered?
  • What’s your budget?
  • Do you have any significant concerns?
  • What is your style?

Should I do my own measurements or will TWG help with that?

The professionals at the TWG Fabrics & Home Decorating Center will help you with everything you need after deciding to purchase a window treatment for your room. You can leave the measuring to us! Since we custom build your window treatments, it will be essential for us to gather the proper measurements for the space.

What is the difference between shades, blinds, and shutters?

  •  Shades: Use a fabric which can roll, stack, or fold when you open up for viewing or to allow light into your space. There are many types of shades from Hunter Douglas we carry such as roller, woven, cellular, pleated, solar, and roman.
  • Blinds: The ultimate in natural light control. They have louvers that allow you to decide how much light gets into your room and to take a peek outside without lifting them fully. Blinds can also come in many different styles and textures. TWG carries wood, faux, wood, aluminum, dust-proof, and fabric.
  • Shutters: Similar to blinds, this option allows you to control light and privacy. Unlike blinds, they do not go up and down as they generally get installed into the frame of a window or other openings. The shutters at TWG come in wood or polyresin options.

Which Hunter Douglas window treatments can be motorized?

Do I need to run wires for Hunter Douglas PowerView® options?

Motorized window treatments from Hunter Douglas all utilize the PowerView® technology, which does not require wires to go up and down. Most run on batteries, but there are also plug-in power supply options. Using simple AA batteries could power them for up to a year!

Do you have energy-efficient window treatment options?

We have plenty! If you visit our showroom in Middletown, NY you can see the results for yourself and how much they can save you. They also protect your other items in the room from harmful UV rays. These can quickly fade the color of your furniture and hardwood floors.
